In March 2017, Greg Slater was named Administrator of the Maryland Department of Transportation's (MDOT's) State Highway Administration (SHA).  In this role he leads the 3,200-person agency responsible for operating Maryland’s State highway network. SHA maintains approximately 23 percent of the roads in Maryland that carry 68 percent of the traffic.  
 
Slater’s 20-year career has spanned 18 years with SHA in highway development as well as Director of Planning.  For the last 15 months, Greg has served as Deputy Administrator and worked closely together with previous Administrator Greg Johnson on several major SHA initiatives.  Slater’s focus on innovative solutions and dedication to delivering the greatest value to the citizens of Maryland will help MDOT lead the way for the future of transportation. 
 
He is a graduate of Towson University and the University of Maryland National Leadership Institute.  He participates on several transportation industry committees and serves as Chair of the AASHTO Standing Committee on Planning Data Sub-Committee.
